Help Protect Our Community Park – Creek Turn Park!

Dear Neighbors,

We need your help! There has been some recent vandalism in our community park, Creek Turn Park. While we don't want to jump to conclusions or unfairly accuse anyone, it's crucial to stay vigilant and work together to keep our park clean and safe for everyone.

Over the past week, soon after our beloved commissioned art sculpture "Big Rusty" was built and unveiled, there was a specific incident of graffiti on her and the surrounding building. This occurred immediately after a local painter was commissioned to paint over inappropriate, explicit language and drawings. Barring no further incidents of vandalism, we are planning to commission a volunteer artist to restore the beautiful graffiti art that has been incorporated into the creation of “Big Rusty”. These recent actions not only harm our public space but also diminish the quality of life for all who will enjoy it and the work that was recently completed at the site.

We kindly request your assistance in reporting any suspicious activities or providing any information that could help identify those responsible. As one can see on the attached photos, aqua blue and red spray cans were used to mark the feet of just-built "Big Rusty” as well as throughout the warehouse buildings. This was done sometime on or just prior to Monday, July 10. The NJSP have begun an investigation and fingerprints are being checked on both the spray and empty beer cans that were left at the site.

Remember, our goal is to create a positive impact, so please refrain from making baseless accusations or targeting specific individuals without concrete evidence. Instead, let's come together as a community to find constructive solutions and promote a culture of respect and responsibility.

Here's what you can do to help:

1️⃣ Be observant: If you witness any vandalism or suspicious behavior in the park, take note of details such as descriptions of individuals involved, their activities, or any distinctive characteristics.

2️⃣ Document and report: Snap pictures or videos (if safe to do so) as evidence, and report incidents promptly to the local authorities. The more information we provide, the better chance we have of finding a resolution.

3️⃣ Educate and raise awareness: Share this message within our community, encouraging others to be vigilant and respectful of our park's beauty and our new resident “Big Rusty”. Together, we can foster a sense of responsibility and protect our shared space.

Let's work together to address this issue and help with the start of the creation of a park that thrives as a symbol of our community and its spirit. If you have any information, please reach out to the township at 609-267-2730 or share it confidentially through direct message https://www.hainesporttownship.com/webforms/contact-us.

Together, we can make a difference!
