Hainesport Community Recycling Project
Hello Hainesport Community!
What’s the big news?
Starting on September 5th, The Hainesport Community will be participating in a recycling challenge. This Challenge is a 6_Month Challenge that is through the Company Trex. The Community as a whole has the opportunity to collect 500 lbs. or 40,500 plastic film and bags. If we reach our goal, Trex will donate a high-performance composite bench to our community which will in turn be donated to the school as “Buddy Bench”.
So…What is a Buddy Bench?
A Buddy Bench is just a bench. But what it represents is so much more! Use of the Buddy Bench is a very simple concept, created as a way to foster friendships and eliminate loneliness on the school playground. It provides children with the opportunity to understand and practice kindness and inclusion.
When children are feeling lonely or left out on the playground, they can go sit on the Buddy Bench, sending a clear message to other kids that they want to talk or play. Two children might find themselves on the Buddy Bench at the same time and this can initiate an interaction, maybe even spark a friendship. The one simple rule? If someone comes up and asks the child to talk or play, the child must say yes!
How can you participate?
We will have two recycling bins in our community for you to drop of your plastic bags and plastic film starting April 18th. Those locations will be at the Hainesport Township Municipal Complex (For all Residents) and at the Hainesport Township Elementary School (If you have Children at the school and would like to send it in with them) and will be labeled specifically for this type of Recycling. We will start collecting now but officially start the challenge in September when the School Year Starts!
As we weigh the amounts monthly, we will post it on our website and mobile app to keep everyone up to date!
There are attached flyers of what types of plastic and films are acceptable and those that are not.
