“A HEART TO GIVE SHOEBOX”
The Recreation Commission is sponsoring the 2nd Annual Valentine project called “A Heart to Give Shoebox”. We are hoping that our wonderful families and organizations can put together shoebox(s) of items that will be given to our “Homeless” residents in the area. We are working with a church in Mt. Holly that sponsors a “Soup Kitchen” on Mondays and Fridays for these individuals. They serve 200 meals a week.
There are plastic shoe boxes at Target, Walmart, and Dollar Tree or you may use a shoebox you have at home.
Suggested Items to put into the boxes: (nothing used, must be new)
Travel size disposable razors, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hairbrushes, combs, scarves, gloves, hats, chapstick, small First Aid kits, deodorant, small packs of tissues, small packs of antibacterial hand/face cleaner, small hand sanitizers, hand lotion, mints/gum, lightweight socks or thermal socks. They can also use sweat pants sweatshirts in various sizes. Of course these will not go into the shoe boxes.
A Valentine card or card of Encouragement would be nice. (D0 NOT put personal information such as phone numbers or addresses in the card). Use your creative thoughts to put these shoeboxes together, and have fun!
